Making the music video-Filming.

We filmed in a room with black walls to have a clear background. Each of the group members had a bit to sing to ensure we all had equal time in the video as girl bands are about promoting each individual member and not focusing on one certain person. Girl bands are more about promoting themselves then the song it's self so we made sure we added a lot of close ups of us on our own as well as shots of all of us together to show the bond of a girl group.
We filmed our individual parts first then went onto the chorus were we put together a dance routine to perform all together.
The theme of our music video was just a group of girls getting ready for a night out hoping to find a man. We had an idea to have a shot of a large clock reading half past 12( "half past 12 and I'm watching the late show") with us behind it looking like were trying to catch up with time then a shot at the end showing the clock at it's normal size and the members kicking it over to show they have realised that they don't need a man to make them happy and they have overcome chasing time.

Music video-complete.

We've managed to finally complete our music video! After weeks of editing, cutting, copying and pasting, we've come to the end of editing and are happy with our end result. One of the most difficult parts of editing was trying to get our miming in time with the music, and when the instrumental was playing for a long length of time, we didn't want it to look repetitive. The storyline fitted well and after a few weeks of using iMovie, we were confident with it and were cutting and editing lots of clips to make it look more effective.Over the weeks of editing, our music video changed a lot and we replaced a lot of clips with new clips that helped fit with the music much better. And finally, we now know just how important a storyboard can be!

Music video update-filming for the first time.

We filmed for the first time today. We have a lot of it done. We still have the idea of a clock with all four girls around it, making the clock look bigger than the girls, but we didn't do that today. We got most of the verses done and one chorus, but we have decided we might need to film more for other choruses.

Our girl band -"Fiesta"

The girl band featuring in our music video are called Fiesta. We came up with this name because when we decided to have a up beat song with lots of dancing, this shows the young girls going to a party. In spanish, Fiesta means Party in English. We thought this would be original and work well with our image as this is the kind of image that we were going for.
They were spotted whilst performing in their local club by someone working for Universal music, whose other artists include Lady Gaga, Eminem and Amy Winehouse. They also used to manage the Spice Girls, whose group is quite similar to ours as they are all individuals and have the sense of 'Girl Power'.

These are photos of our storybooard. These are some of the shots that we are going to do, and what member of the girl band is going to be in each part of the song.

Lyrics.

Half past twelve
And I'm watching the late show in my flat all alone
How I hate to spend the evening on my own
Autumn winds
Blowing outside my window as I look around the room
And it makes me so depressed to see the gloom
Is there a man out there
Someone to hear my prayer

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Movie stars
Find the end of the rainbow, with a fortune to win
It's so different from the world I'm living in
Tired of T.V.
I open the window and I gaze into the night
But there's nothing there to see, no one in sight
Is there a man out there
Someone to hear my prayer

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day

Is there a man out there
Someone to hear my prayer

Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Won't somebody help me chase the shadows away
Gimme gimme gimme a man after midnight
Take me through the darkness to the break of the day
I have chose to do the song "Gimme Gimme Gimme" sung by Amanda Seyfried because i thought it would be a good idea to change a old video into something that will be enjoyed by modern day youths.
I am working with Beth Rashbrook, and together we have a formed a girl band, which is made of four girls.
The song is about relationships and finding a man. I think this is a good theme as most girl band songs are based on love and men, which seem to sell well in the music industry, especially with teenage girls.

Costume Ideas.

At the beginning of the video, we were going to introduce the group members wearing a black dress with different colour tights or/and belt.

Each girl will have a colour most suited to their personality and will be represent by their colour, like the saturdays.

Going out dresses can be worn during the video to connote nights out trying to attract men.

* Quite scopophillic.
Looking at women in a sexual way.
* Encouraging audience to look at them.

* Equal numbers of shots of each girl and never all together.
Highlights independence.
* 100% performance-based.
Narcissistic.

Layout
- How elements are positioned. Print.
Narrative - The story.
Mise-en-scene - Everything in the scene - props, costume, make-up, performance, lighting.

Sound (digetic, non-digetic) - Digetic - they can hear. Non-digetic - they can't hear.

This is the image we are going for. We want our music video to look very girl based.
We are using close ups on the band members applying make-up at the beginning to show them getting ready to go out and have a good time and to attract men.
We want to show friendship between the members to connote friendliness and girl power. We will show this by being in shots together and singing as a group, aswell as having shots of us on our own to show we are individuals and although we work together we can still stand on our own two feet, like girls aloud. We want to each have a colour to represent each of us, like the Saturdays, to show our individal personalities and to show everyone that we are all different and unique in our own ways.
The band is about friendship and believing that girls are just as equal as men. They believe in karma, what goes around comes around and believe that men who treat girls badly will get what they deserve. They believe in loyalty and have great trust for each other.
